Deferred Gift Annuity
A deferred gift annuity is a variation of the charitable gift annuity. Like the charitable gift annuity, a deferred gift annuity is a simple contract between you and The Rockefeller University, whereby you and/or another beneficiary receive a guaranteed fixed annuity payment for life, in exchange for an asset you irrevocable transfer to the University. The difference lies in when you begin receiving the annuity payments. A deferred gift annuity allows you to fund a gift annuity today and receive an immediate charitable deduction but to delay the receipt of the annuity payment until a time when you require additional income, such as retirement. A deferred gift annuity is an appropriate gift plan for a donor who is in need of an immediate charitable deduction and a fixed income stream beginning at a later date.
If you would like additional information about deferred gift annuities, please call Vickie Lister, Senior Director of Planned Giving, at (212) 327-8658. The Rockefeller University recommends that you consult with your legal and financial advisors before proceeding with any planned gift.
